HEBI ni Piasu (“Snakes and Earrings”) is a Japanese novel by Hitomi Kanehara, later adapted into a 2008 film featuring actress Yuriko Yoshitaka. The story portrays an authentic post-bubble Japanese youth culture about a girl named Lui, who admires her boyfriend's split tongue and becomes obsessed with body modification. She visits a piercing parlor run by Shiba, who she then begins a secret sexual relationship with that involves bondage and sadomasochism.
